Privacy Policy

Introduction

Welcome to Utilioo. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

The most important thing to know: Utilioo processes all PDF files entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device, never touch our servers, and we literally cannot see them even if we wanted to.

Don't just trust us—verify it yourself! Our Privacy Verification Guide shows you exactly how to prove that your files never leave your browser.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

Information We Collect

Information We DO NOT Collect

  • Your PDF files - All processing happens in your browser
  • File contents - We never see what's in your documents
  • Personal data from PDFs - Your documents stay private
  • Passwords or credentials - Everything is client-side

Information We DO Collect

  • Usage data (localStorage) - We track merge count to enforce free tier limits (10 merges/month). This data is stored locally in your browser only.
  • Basic analytics (optional) - If enabled, we may collect anonymized page views, button clicks, and general usage patterns to improve the service.
  • Payment information - If you upgrade to Pro, your payment details are processed by Stripe (not stored by us).
  • Email address - Only if you create an account (optional, for Pro users).

How We Process PDFs

Our PDF processing architecture is designed with privacy as the #1 priority:

  1. Client-Side Processing - All PDF merging happens in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly
  2. No File Uploads - Your files never leave your device, never travel over the internet to our servers
  3. Temporary Memory Only - Files exist in browser memory only during processing, then are immediately discarded
  4. No Server Storage - We don't have your files, we can't access them, we can't see them

Bottom line: Your files are as private as if you were using offline desktop software.

Cookies and Tracking

We use minimal cookies and tracking:

  • localStorage - Used to track your merge count (free tier limit enforcement). This is stored locally in your browser and never sent to our servers.
  • Session cookies - If you sign in (Pro users), we use secure session cookies to keep you logged in.
  • Analytics cookies (optional) - If you consent, we may use anonymized analytics to improve the service.

You can disable or clear all cookies/localStorage at any time through your browser settings.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Vercel (Hosting) - Our website is hosted on Vercel. They may collect basic server logs (IP address, browser type) for infrastructure purposes.Vercel Privacy Policy
  • Stripe (Payments) - If you upgrade to Pro, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card details.Stripe Privacy Policy

Data Retention

  • PDF files - Never stored, processed in browser memory only, discarded immediately
  • Usage data (localStorage) - Stored in your browser indefinitely, resets monthly, you can clear anytime
  • Account data - If you create a Pro account, we retain your email and subscription status until you delete your account
  • Payment records - Kept for 7 years for tax/legal compliance (required by law)
